This is pretty fair. Additionally, our defensive issues last year never fixed themselves in the playoffs, even when soooo many Cavs fans kept repeating "We'll amp it up when it matters, don't worry". The offense did ramp up, but that defense stayed atrocious.

This was my concern as well when watching the Cavs. Their defense is still just as bad as it has always been. Consistency game to game seems to be a lot more important for defense compared to offense. Watching the Cavs just give up easy layup after easy layup this season is not very encouraging.
I have no doubt that the Cavs will finish in the upper-half of the teams in the East, based purely on the strength of the East, but I don't see how they are going to compete against anyone in the Finals if they don't figure it out before the playoffs start.

i think the cavs' problem entirely stems from lebron being pretty disinterested. it's such a top-down team where everything stems from lebron, both in playmaking and work ethic, so if lebron isn't leading by example then things will be pretty ugly. that said, i can't blame him, because he's 32 and has been to 7 straight finals- why would regular season games in october matter to him? we do a lot of hand-wringing and it's frustrating watching the cavaliers play really bad basketball simply because they don't care ( which is a disservice to the fans, particularly those who pay to go to games ) , but at the end of the day lebron will still be lebron and the cavaliers will still probably walk to the finals

But the Warriors have had their full roster and are 28th in defensive rating and 1st in offensive rating. Their D has been terrible.
Cavs are actually 27th in D rating, but only 16th in O rating.
The real problem for both teams is a complete lack of defense.
